Notes Update Update

An update on that notes update I was talking about! Today I wrapped up work on a timeline, which means step 2 is done! See below for more details.

1. COMPLETE: Migrate all existing notes into new software (Obsidian) that will let me see and edit notes across all my devices, instead of taking notes on my phone as I think of them in a giant unsorted block and trying to remember to refer back to them later.
2. COMPLETE: Re-sort, re-format, re-link all those notes. I couldn’t get an export/import to work, so in step 1 I had to manually copy/paste every single page and file – which means that step 2 is rebuilding all the incompatible lost formatting and inter-page links. As of TODAY I have fully re-sorted and re-formatted and re-linked all my existing notes, with some updates as I went, and also created a timeline and several calendar systems with actual dates for everything that was already in the notes. The timeline is important – this lets me know exactly when things are happening relative to each other, to avoid inconsistencies.
3. WE ARE HERE: Actual notes updates. A lot has changed since I first wrote down a lot of this stuff mostly 6+ years ago. This is the big step where I re-read through four novels and make sure anything and everything I mention in the books is in the notes. Also for consistency. This starts today/tomorrow.
4. Write more. Once all the notes are updated, I’ll be doing all my writing in the new app, which will allow me to easily refer to my notes at any time, and even link the fiction I’m writing directly to relevant sections of notes. I’m also thinking more about the website layout. I’m having problems attaching images to things and I don’t like it. Maybe want some more sidebar stuff. I dunno. I’ll think about that too.
